The Municipal Council of Curepipe provides a wide range of services to residents, businesses, and visitors across the township.

Financial & Regulatory Services

  • Local Rate Levies — Rates levied on immovable property owners within the municipal area.
  • Trade Fees — Due on January 1st annually, payable within 15 days.
  • Building and Land Use Permits (BLP) — Required for all construction, demolition, and development works.

Market Operations

The council operates a public market at Chasteauneuf Street and the Forum Fair at Forest Side.

  • Opening hours: 5:00–5:30 a.m. (depending on season)
  • Closing: 7:00 p.m. on weekdays
  • Stalls trade in poultry, fish, produce, spices, bread, and grains
  • Eligibility: residency, unemployment status, and being a family head with no other income source

Waste Management

Weekly refuse collection and conveyance to approved disposal sites throughout the municipal jurisdiction.

Cemetery & Cremation Services

  • Three crematoria operating 9:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. with 1.5-hour intervals
  • Fees: Rs 2,000 (without coffin), Rs 3,000 (with coffin)
  • Cemetery plots at Bigarade from Rs 500

Infrastructure & Recreation

  • Street lighting maintenance
  • Pavement, drain, and bridge construction and maintenance
  • Nine football grounds, seven volleyball courts, six basketball courts
  • Pétanque pitches across multiple locations
  • Gymnasiums offering badminton, basketball, volleyball, and fitness facilities
